Hi! I’ll share the next installment of my Humanhood Essentials ebook next week. And, we’ll gathering for a Humanhood Happening on Thursday (topic TBD). This week, I wanted to share this note of love from my whole heart.
Oh my, have they grown.
I’ve been simultaneously weepy and flooded with love over and over again these past couple of weeks seeing all of the back-to-school, off-to-college and moving-on-to-adulthood photos of your growing humans on the socials.
They’ve grown.Â
So many of the tiny little baby people I met, fresh out of the womb, are now heading off to middle school, high school, college and life beyond your home. I’m a witness to thousands of families and thousands of growers and, from where I sit, I am here to say, I am in awe.
When I look at them I gasp with delight.
They are gorgeous growing humans. You are giving them what they need. There’s no doubt about it in my mind. Can you see it? Can you trust it? Can you know in your heart and soul that they are going to make it and you are going to make it and you will all stay connected and loving toward one another? Maybe not every moment. But, over the long haul. Clearly, there is love and deep connection.
I know you get weary.Â
I know it feels like a lot. I know you worry. I know you wonder if you are doing it right, if you are doing enough, if you are giving them the very, very best. Those questions are in some ways unanswerable. Amidst the ever-evolving mystery that is family life, what if you asked yourself these questions, too:
Am I showing up for myself?
Am I navigating this wild experience of life and love with my not just my head but my heart and soul, too?
How can I love today?
How can I steady myself today?
What can I appreciate about myself and these people I love today?
You are doing it.
You are helping humans grow. You are making choices and tending needs and creating connections and offering opportunities. And, you are watching. And waiting. And seeing. And listening. And loving. SO much loving. It’s what makes this whole thing so achy and tender and fraught and fun and nerve-wracking and everything else that it is. You love them so much!
Thank you.Â
For all you are giving and allowing and learning and weathering and navigating and doing to help these humans become who they are, essentially.Â
It’s a lot.Â
And you are doing it.Â
They are magnificent.
And so are you.
My sincerest awe, appreciation and love,Â
Carrie
Where would we be without you? Thx for the 14 years worth of guard rails, affirmations, reminders, and love notes, Carrie. So grateful to be in your orbit.
I needed this little love note today! It was perfect. I took the few minutes to write and answer the questions now, as soon as I read, them instead of waiting until "later" which I sometimes never get to. Doing it now, was a great little pep up.
